Bachelor of Social Work

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is started in Don Bosco College, Maram (DBCMaram) with a view to empower young people of Manipur in particular. We aim to educate highly skilled, principled social workers who can efficiently boost and lead human service efforts to improve human well-being particularly in villages. Our mission is to advance knowledge amongst students, practice excellence, provide leadership and service for enhancing well being, and to promote social and economic justice and cultural competence with diverse cultures. We empower students and faculty to be ethical leaders, capable in both creative and vital thinking, which will stand at the forefront of creating positive change and improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of society. Our area requires greater commitment and dedication in transforming the lives of people in the village. We intends to produce and refine effective consumer-oriented intervention strategies, market oriented social work practice, innovative organizational structures, and accessible social work educational endeavors which will produce robust integrated professional social workers. We believe in changes and that change is possible.
 

The task of BSW programme is to get ready entry-level social work professionals for proficient agency based generalist social work within liberal arts framework. Generalist practice is the purpose of an extensive range of theoretical perspectives focusing an incorporated bio-psycho-social advance, professional principles, ethics and skills with dissimilar individuals, families, groups and communities operating the planned change process. Further, results as demonstrating appropriate use of self in social work practice with social systems. This Programme underlines a reverence for multiplicity right through all mechanism of its learning milieu. Reverence for diversity is evident for all individuals with exceptional concentration given to oppressed or discriminated on the basis of class, ethinicity, community, caste, race, colour, religion, gender identity/expression, age, sexual orientation, mental, or physical disability.

Career Prospectus

Possibilities are galore: Preparation for Master of Social Work (MSW), starting ones on NGOs for developmental and progressive enterprises, opportunities exist to work as HIV/ AIDS prevention Centers, Drugs De-addiction Centers, Human Rights Agencies, Crime Prevention Organizations, Rural, Urban and Tribal Community Agencies, State and Central Government Welfare Departments, Sponsored Research and Action Oriented Projects under-taken by National and International Agencies, United Nations Organizations and NGOs working on various socio-economic issues.
