HEALTH CAMP AT DBCMaram

Maram 3 November 2012: The Don Bosco Alumni, Maram Unit organized a Health Camp on Saturday, 3 November 2012 at Don Bosco College, Maram, Senapati. The camp was organized in collaboration with the District Health Mission Society, Senapati under National Rural Health Mission (NHRM), to help the students in need by spot diagnosis and treatment.

The day long camp started with a short introductory function at the college assembly hall. During the introductory programme Mr. David  Kamei, the Unit President of the Alumni, welcomed the medical team,  the Principal of the College Fr.Benny James SDB, who is also the unit delegate of the Don Bosco Alumni Maram unit, Dr. Fr. K.O. Sebastian SDB, the Rector, the fellow alumni and the participants. Fr. Benny also welcomed everyone to the camp and thanked the alumni for organizing the health camp. Dr. Simpson Sario, the CMO, Mrs. Elizabeth RK, the district programme manager (DPM-NRHM), Senapati, about 13 doctors, nurses and Para-medical staff made up the medical team.

Test and investigations available at camp were OPD, Ultra Sound, X-Ray, ECG, Blood Testing Lab, ENT, gynecology, ophthalmic, dental, general etc. Over 300 students and a good number of staff got treated for various sicknesses by expert physicians. The entire necessary test and investigations as well as the dispensing of medicines were free of cost. All those who came found the camp beneficial and worth attending.

DON BOSCO COLLEGE MARAM CONDUCTS CULTURAL FEST 2012

22 October 2012 Don Bosco College Maram began a grant cultural fest of 3 days with the theme: Be Creative and Be Original.

The inaugural ceremony of DBCMaram Cultural Fest began at 9.00 am with the invocation of God’s blessings by Dr. Fr. K.O. Sebastian SDB, the Rctor. On this occasion he also spoke about the importance of being creative and original as that of God’s creation and brings out the best in all of us. All were warmly welcomed by the students of BCA with their melodious song.   Fr Benny James SDB, Principal stressed the importance of keeping a good decorum in the campus while enjoying wholesome scholastic activities. He reiterated the students to showcase their talents and develop them to greater perfection. He also opined that the programmes are going to be entertaining, educative. There are over 2300 young talents of the college participating in a total of 27 events. After the speech the core team members as well as all the leaders of various groups were introduced. Rev. Sr. Lucy Thomas, Vice Principal expressed sentiments of gratitude to all the organizers and in advance thanked everyone for the great success that is to be won. Colourful, wonderful and mesmerizing items like mime, western dance, western solo, skit, elocution etc. are  on the list. The three days of programme will culminate on 24 of this month when DC of Senapati District will give away the prizes to the winners of various events. There are four stages set up to conduct all the events. All the students with great enthusiasm and zeal are competing to realize and achieve the theme BE CREATIVE and  BE ORIGINAL.

DBCMaram Lauds the Ranks Holders of 2012

Maram 31 July 2012: Acknowledging the laurels brought home – that made Don Bosco College, Maram (DBCMaram) proud and outstanding through a galaxy of 48 Rank Holders, the College had a grant felicitation programme organized to which Shri Francis Ngajokp Honorable Minister, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Economics and Statistics, Govt. of Manipur was the Chief Guest. He was accorded a grant welcome by Rev. Fr.(Dr) KO Sebastian SDB, Rector; Rev. Benny James SDB the Principal; Management;  staff and students of theCollege. 
            The opening ceremony began with a special invocation to God by Fr. Roy George SDB, the Administrator. There were various colorful items to mark the magnificent occasion for the beauty of dream fulfilled.
            Rev. Fr.(Dr)  K. O. Sebastian the Rector admired the Honorable Minister Shr. Francis Ngajokpa for being the guardian and patron of the college. He as  well as  exhorted the students to continue to keep up the good tradition and heritage of the college, and to achieve greater heights of success by treading the road to hard work like ‘bees’ who tirelessly toil for every drop of honey .
          
Rev. Fr. Benny James, the principal, with profound gratitude congratulated all  the rank holders, the management, staff and associates for making DBCMaram proud and a prestigious institution  through the marvelous results through the years of its existence and particularly in 2011-12. In his speech Fr. Principal highlighted the achievements of various departments and teachers of different subjects. The college has bagged a total of 48 ranks since 2003 at Plus II level and 177 ranks since 2004 at Degree level. The Principal lauded the contribution of for the mammoth achievement of 225 ranks within a short span of 12 years.
          Honorable Minister Shri Francis Ngajopkpa gave away the awards to the meritorious students as well as to the teachers who excelled in their career. Honorable Minister paid a well fitting tribute to DBCMaram for its reputation, discipline, dedication, academic excellence and laurels brought in spite of lacking several amenities. He highlighted the need of possessing strong determination, dedication, hard work, never to
postpone one’s future for tomorrow, to grab every opportunity, to aim higher and the need to be righteous to build a better society. He also grabbed the occasion to tell the audience about his own success story of single pair of pants to the present post as the minister of Rural Development and Pachayati Raj. Though provoking intrusion into various sectors of once life, the minister kept the audience spellbound till the end. Indeed his frank sharing captivated all the young minds as well as the teachers and all who had gathered.
          The programme came to a fruitful conclusion with profound gratitude and appreciation to every one for the grant success.

Youth For Media

DBCMaram 25 Nov 2011: Don Bosco College, Maram inaugurated the first ever Media Training Programme for the students of its college on 25 November 2011 by Fr. PO Sebastian, the rector of the college. Present on the occasion were Fr. Benny James, Principal; four resources persons namely Mr. Jose Fredric, Mr. Manikandan R Rajalaxmi, Ms Vanessa Peter and Mr. John F Romeo from Chennai Film Industry.

Speaking on the occasion Fr. PO Sebastian emphasised the importance of Media in one’s life and its impact on young people. Fr. Principal invited the audience to peep into Media as a good agent for transformation of individuals and society. The Media Training programme is being organized by the Media Club of the College. The course will give the participants training in editing, directing and photography. A total of 108 participants will spending the weekends for the much awaited training programme.

The resource persons are of high profile in their respective areas. Mr. Jose Fredric is a documentary film maker who has programmed over 30 educational documentary programmes for DD. He has also won National Award for Documentary ‘Laaga Stigma Kafaag’. While Mr. Manikandan R Rajalaxmi who hails from Mumbai has been in the field for quite many years. He has filmed more than 150 advertising commercial films. He has worked along with Amitab Bachan, Priyanka Chopra, Ritik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kajol, Ajay Devagan and goes the list.

Ms. Vanessa Peter is a close associate of the group who is involved in Tamil Nadu Planning Commission on issues related to Urban Poverty. She is a Supreme Court appointed officer of the food advisor on the homeless and is actively engaged in Action Aid, an internal aid organisation. Mr. John Romeo who brought all the others into one unit is a documentary film maker. He has in depth knowledge and experience in the field of filming and directing.

Today media speaks louder than any other agents. It is only through media one can today reach out to many in the world. The training intends to enlighten the students on the possibility of qualified media usage. Mr. Amit Kumar who is the programme coordinator of the Media Club is enthusiastic that the students are going to benefit much from the programme.
