Delegates of Don Bosco Alumni Maram at the 4th Annual Day of Dimapur Provincial Federation

The representatives of the Don Bosco Alumni, Maram unit along with Rev. Fr. Benny James, the unit delegate,participated in the 4th Annual Day of the Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur Provincial Federation which was held on Sunday 7 April, 2013 at Don Bosco Youth Centre Kohima. The programme was attended by 13 Alumni from the Maram Unit. On the occasion, the president of the unit, Mr.David Kamei presented a brief report of the Unit. The 4th Annual Day was hosted by the Kohima Unit of the Don Bosco Alumni.

 

HEALTH CAMP AT DBCMaram

Maram 3 November 2012: The Don Bosco Alumni, Maram Unit organized a Health Camp on Saturday, 3 November 2012 at Don Bosco College, Maram, Senapati. The camp was organized in collaboration with the District Health Mission Society, Senapati under National Rural Health Mission (NHRM), to help the students in need by spot diagnosis and treatment.

The day long camp started with a short introductory function at the college assembly hall. During the introductory programme Mr. David  Kamei, the Unit President of the Alumni, welcomed the medical team,  the Principal of the College Fr.Benny James SDB, who is also the unit delegate of the Don Bosco Alumni Maram unit, Dr. Fr. K.O. Sebastian SDB, the Rector, the fellow alumni and the participants. Fr. Benny also welcomed everyone to the camp and thanked the alumni for organizing the health camp. Dr. Simpson Sario, the CMO, Mrs. Elizabeth RK, the district programme manager (DPM-NRHM), Senapati, about 13 doctors, nurses and Para-medical staff made up the medical team.

Test and investigations available at camp were OPD, Ultra Sound, X-Ray, ECG, Blood Testing Lab, ENT, gynecology, ophthalmic, dental, general etc. Over 300 students and a good number of staff got treated for various sicknesses by expert physicians. The entire necessary test and investigations as well as the dispensing of medicines were free of cost. All those who came found the camp beneficial and worth attending.

A Call to Love the Poor

DBCMaram: The Don Bosco Alumni, Maram Unit celebrated its first Annual Day on Saturday, 11 February, 2012 at Don Bosco College, Maram – Senapati, Manipur. Mr. Francis P Solo, President, Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur Provincial Federation and Commissioner Higher and Technical Education, Govt of Nagaland graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, Mr. Francis spoke about the origin, aims and objectives of the Don Bosco Alumni. He also thanked the Unit Delegate, Rev. Fr. Benny James and the unit alumni for having organized the 1st annual day. Fr. Benny in his exhortation asked all the alumni present to give thought to the poor and underprivileged in their service to the society. Many past pupils of Maram Don Bosco Institutions were present for the day’s celebration. Ms. Jane Mary, the secretary of the Unit presented the report of the Unit and draw up an action plan for the unit in Maram. The Don Bosco Alumni Unit of Dimapur presented a colourful Shouline Martial Arts performance on the stage. Fr. Felix mesmerized the audience with his dazzling magic shows. Songs, dances, talent displays were the other highlights of the day. The celebration concluded with a Lucky Draw where in which 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 10 Consolation Prizes were given out to the lucky Persons of the day. The Don Bosco Alumni, Maram Unit is grateful to all those who have helped and contributed to the success of its 1st Annual Day.. The solemn get together of the past pupils came to an end with sumptuous meal to all those who were present.

Don Bosco Alumni Maram Participants in the Provincial Annual Day

DBCMaram 4 December 2011: The representatives of the DB Alumni Maram along will Rev Fr. Benny James SSDB, the unit delegate, took part in the Annual Day celebration cum General Election of the t DB Alumni Dimapur Provincial Federation on 3rd Dec 2011, Saturday at the provincial House, Dimapur. The delegates also joined in the historic event of the installation of Don Bosco’s Statue of the Walford Street Dimapur. The Saint’s statue was installed to mark the visit of his relic to the Province of Dimapur. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest Mr. TR Zeliang emphasized the Salesian education that he had received which made him what he is today. It is to be noted here that Don Bosco a saint of 19 century still lives on in the hearts and minds of millions of young people today. The statue that was unveiled on that day became the first statue of Don Bosco to be erected in Nagaland. The big crowd that had gathered there appreciated the good work done by the Salesians and the dignitaries who spoke on the occasion thanked the Alumni for taking up such a bold step to recognizing what they have received from  the Salesian and their institutions.

The Delegates of Don Bosco Alumni of Maram at Wokha

Maram 8 Oct.2011: The delegates of Don Bosco Alumni of Maram unit along with Rev. Fr. Benny James SDB, the unit delegate attended the Provincial Council meeting of the Don Bosco alumni Dimapur Provincial Federation on 8 Oct.2011, Saturday at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Wokha, Nagaland.

The delegates also participated in the Annual Day of the DB Alumni Wokha, which coincided with the Provincial Council meeting. During the meeting the delegation from various units presented their reports. At the same time they shared their plans and dreams for the coming months.

DB Alumni Meet at Kohima

 

Maram April 19. The executive members along with the local delegates of Don Bosco Alumni of Dimapur Federation met at Administrative Training Institute, Kohima on 18 April 2010 to discuss about its various activities. The meeting was well represented by all the units of province.
The president of Don Bosco Alumni of Salesian Province of Dimapur Mr. F P Solo welcomed all the members present. Much of its time was spent on business session of the group. The speakers reminded the house about the clarion call of the Rector Major to give oneself to the task of committing oneself to the cause of the poor and underprivileged.
The units present were: Dimapur, Wokha, Zubsa, Dibrugarh, Itanagar, Imphal and Manipur. The unit of Maram was well represented by its local delegate Fr. Benny James, the principal of the college ; the President, Mr. Adani Peter and the general secretary Mr. W Thopi.
Maram Unit of the Past Pupils agreed to host the next general council meeting of the Past pupils at Don Bosco College, Maram.
The days programme came to an end with a short trip to the War Cemetery of Kohima. All the units were extremely happy the way the business session was conducted and issues were deliberated. Kudos to one and all.
