ITES- BPO TRAINING PROGRAME

Information Technology Enabled Services- Business Process Outsourcing Training Programme sponsored by DOAECC, Imphal (an autonomous body of ministry of communications and information technology govt. of India) is conducting in Don Bosco college, Maram, to enhance students in their communication skill and personality development. It is a course of two months duration packed with phonetics, pronunciations, English grammar, interviewing skills, IT skills, accent and voice, etc. it is a free programme for girls initiated by the central government for the up lift of ST and SC women folk under the women empowerment Act. After the completion of the two months course, different companies conduct campus interviews and telephonic interviews for job placements.
The objectives of this programme are to increase the percentage of employed women of the country especially the rural folks though in private sector and uplift the living standard of women in particular. As directed by the DOAECC, Imphal, the centre’s mission is to complete five batches in the academic year 2009-2010 with the intake of 20 girls minimum in every batch. 
The sub-centre of ITES-BPO training programme at Don Bosco College, Maram, caters opportunities not only to graduate level girls but also to boys. Every batch has a maximum enrolment of 20 girls and 15 boys each. Competitions of various kinds are conducted to equip students for the real competitive world, hatching them out from the shell of shyness, nervousness, fear, stage fright, etc. 
The centre at Maram is supervised by Rev. Fr. Roy, the administrator of the college, as the Co-ordinator, Rev. Fr. Jerish Abraham, Lecturer- Department of Sociology; Miss Katini Kreni, and Miss. D.Mary as trainers in phonetics and pronunciation, soft-skills and IT skills respectively. The centre is completing its 4th batch with a total of 32 students and the 5th batch will be inducted in April with which the course will end for the current academic year.
