Don Bosco Alumni Interacts with Rector Major of Salesian Society
The Maram Unit of the Don Bosco, Alumni participated at the first Don Bosco, Alumni Annual Day of Dimapur Provincial Federation on 6th November, 2009 at Provincial House Dimapur. Altogether 8 members led by Peter Adani, The President Maram Unit DBA, and the Unit Delegate, Fr. Benny James, the principal of Don Bosco College, Maram, took part in the celebration. The day was richly blessed by the presence of Rev. Fr. Pascual Chavez sdb, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco and other eminent dignitaries.
Mr. Francis P. Solo, the Commissioner and Secretary, Higher and Technical Education Govt. of Nagaland and also the President of Dimapur Provincial Federation DBA, welcomed and addressed the dignitaries and members on behalf of the Provincial Federation. The Secretarial report was read out by Dr. Stephen Kamson, Senior Divisional Medical officer, NEFR and Secretary, of the Provincial Alumni.
In his short interaction with the Don Bosco Alumni, the Rector Major encouraged the members present to continue to grow in the true spirit of Don Bosco so as to bring about positive change in the society. He also emphasized that it was not enough to be just a member of the organisation but should move ahead from simple attachment to commitment for the welfare of the younger generation and the needy. He further expressed the need for more quality education in India, which is one of the biggest challenges for the country.
Earlier during the day a special number was presented by the DBA Maram Unit, which was followed by felicitation of the Rector Major from different units of the Alumni. The celebration came to a close with a family lunch along with the Rector Major in the premises of the provincial House.
