DBCMaram 7 March 2012: The Department of Sociology of Don Bosco College, Maram organized a one day workshop on 7th March 2012 on the theme “Empower Rural women -End Hunger and Poverty”. The workshop was held in Maram Centre Community Hall at 10.00 am. The resource person was Mrs. Ela – a Magdalene CDPO (Child Development Programme Officer) of Mao – Maram. She mainly stressed on the theme focusing on “Economic, social, Political, mental, physical, legal and religious aspects of women in the society.” She emphasized on the need of women’s education for a better society.
The programme began with a welcome song
from the students followed by words of welcome and presentation by Luikang Joseph. Besides the resource person one of the student representative Jacinta Thaimei and Teacher representative Ms. Sunita Ningthoujam MA, gave speech related to the theme. Exhortation was given by Mr. Majit Tayeng, MA, HoD of Department of Sociology. A skit was performed by the students based on the theme “Women’s Empowerment”.
All together there were 107 village women present for the programme excluding the children, students and teachers. The programme was also graced by the Vice – Principal Sr. Lucy Thomas Nedumela FMA, of Don Bosco College, Maram. The programme ended successfully with the active participation of every one. We concluded the programme with a light refreshment and a photo session at the End.
